The CERISE Mission

CERISE’s mission is to be Canada’s leading provider of timely, independent information and analysis concerning energy regulation developments from jurisdictions across Canada and elsewhere.

This web-based service saves its members time and money by reducing the need for the costly and time-consuming monitoring of numerous jurisdictions and lengthy internet searches. CERISE accesses this information through its own experienced personnel and contacts who are active in all of the major Canadian jurisdictions.

The CERISE Team

Keith Bryan, CERISE’s editor, has been involved in regulatory activities in both the natural gas and electricity sectors for the past 25 years. He has held a number of positions during that time and has participated and testified in proceedings before both provincial tribunals, as well as the NEB in Canada and the FERC in the U.S. CERISE subscribers will be hearing from Keith on a daily basis in the new CERISE feature, Keith’s Corner. Keith is also a member of the Elenchus Research Associates team.

Drawing on his international experience in Information Technology and Economics, Bayu Kidane wears several hats at CERISE: economist, assistant editor and application developer. Bayu was responsible for the initial specification, design and implementation of CERISE and the Ontario Electricity Monitoring Service (OEMS). In addition to managing the day-to-day activities of CERISE and OEMS and the ongoing technical administration and maintenance of the two services, Bayu also develops content for CERISE and OEMS including summaries of energy regulatory decisions from jurisdictions across Canada, proceeding updates, and news. Bayu’s responsibilities have recently focused on his consulting and research work for Elenchus Research Associates.

CERISE intends to establish Sponsors, who will be invited to participate on our Advisory Board. This body will have the opportunity to provide significant counsel to CERISE concerning the evolution of the service. In addition Sponsors will receive formal recognition on CERISE website including their logo and a direct link to their own website. Econalysis Consulting Services, CERISE’s founding sponsor, welcomes the opportunity to share sponsorship with other organizations from across the energy industry.

CERISE is also in the process of establishing an editorial board made up of senior personnel from various components of the regulatory environment. On a periodic basis this group will be asked to discuss and comment on major issues with cross-jurisdictional implications. Their views will then be provided to CERISE members.

Purely factual information is augmented with analysis from external contributors and CERISE staff and associates who collectively possess many years of direct experience with a wide range of regulatory matters.
